Trolls are without a doubt one of the biggest problems on the Internet and they have led to the shut down and closure of one of the most exciting applications ever. Best known for his feature as Hawkeye in the unforgettable Avengers series, Jeremy Renner is one of those few celebrities on the planet with millions of fans. Even though some may not be aware of the fact that he actually has his own special software application, he did launch one a couple of years ago. The goal then was to allow him to easily link up with his millions of fans scattered all over the globe.
But on Wednesday, it was sad news for the fans as Renner declared that he was closing down the app for good. And no, it was not because of bugs or any malicious virus that made him close down the iconic app, it was due to a more relatable menace – the trolls. Renner complained that trolls have taken over the app which was meant initially just for his fans and as such he would have no other option but to close it.
While giving the reasons in a statement, Renner stated that the app had jumped the shark. He complained that some trolls had managed to impersonate him and for that main reason, he ordered the company managing the app to close it immediately. The announcement did not stop there, the star also said that he ordered the company to also ensure that refunds are given to anyone who bought stars on the app in the last three months.
From the tone of the message, it was quite clear that Renner was not too happy with closing it down. This is because he said in the same statement that the goal was to ensure that the app was going to be a place for him and his fans to have some quality time to interact. However, that aim was changed over time by trolls who decided to mess up the entire place. He apologized for how it turned out and also explained to his fans that was not his initial plan and intention with launching the app. He then thanked the fans who have given him nothing but love and support and actually contributed positively to the app when it was still running.
But despite the closing of the app, all is clearly not lost as far as being a Renner fan is concerned. This is because he announced to his fans that even though the app was being shut down, he would still maintain the platforms for fans on other social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. Renner also posted shots of what the trolls did, with some of them posing to be not just Renner himself but also Casey Anthony, Jeffrey Epstein and even OJ Simpson, some of the trolls left sexually explicit comments, posted nasty photos and did all sorts of horrible things on the app until Renner felt he had had enough and had to shut it down for good.
